Netflix Trailer Day? Netflix Trailer Day!

Wanna get pumped up for a new season of Daredevil?!  Well here you go!

This definitely looks like the best version of the Punisher yet, and I am ready for the knock-down-drag-out-brawl that happens when Daredevil and him get together!

Okay, the Daredevil trailer may have gotten you too excited, so I am going calm you down with a little Pee-wee!

I am not sure if we need another Pee-wee movie, but I am going to watch it anyway.  It just makes me feel good to watch him mill about and be himself.  My one criticism is that it looks a little too much like Pee-wee’s Big Adventure … but without the bike.

Anyway, happy Netflix trailer day!

The Magicians Is Like Harry Potter’s Crazy Uncle!

the-magicians-1050x700

If you liked Harry Potter, but it was a little too tame for you, you will love The Magicians!  It is darker, edgier, and people are dying a whole lot faster than in J.K Rowling’s landmark series.  In The Magicians, the new SyFy show based on Lev Grossman’s book series of the same name, kids with magical abilities are sent off to Brakebills College to learn to hone their craft, so, you know, sort of like Harry Potter, but with a totally different feel.

I am only a couple episodes in, but I am totally hooked!  College kids with magic, strange lands, twisted versions of Narnia, and who knows what else!  Not to mention it wears its similarity to Harry Potter on its sleeve instead of trying to pretend it is totally original.  I am loving SyFy’s return to scripted television.  First they bring back Sci-Fi, and now they are adding some decent fantasy to the mix.  Kind of like what they promised when they made their name dumb.  I can only hope this influx of great TV continues, and SyFy becomes one of my go to channels.

After A Long Super Bowl, These Are The Best Two Commercials!

After two Super Bowls featuring my Seattle Seahawks it was hard to watch two non-Seahawks teams face off in Super Bowl 50.  This must be how Patriots fans feel every other Super Bowl!  Well without anyone to root for and both teams doing their best not to move the ball down the field that meant the stars of the show were the commercials, and I have decided to share my favorites: best for a product and best for a movie.  First up the Kia Optima!

I love Christopher Walken! As a straight man I don’t mind telling you if he asked me to marry him I would say yes, and this Kia commercial uses him perfectly.  His baige socks versus fun socks speech encapsulates everything wonderful about him!  Bravo Kia! Bravo!

Next up, for my favorite movie trailer I went with Jason Bourne:

It was a hard call between this and Deadpool spot, but the Jason Bourne trailer was completely new, and the first look at this movie worked very well.  Matt Damon looks ready to reprise his most popular role, and it looks like they are holding the camera steady!  I know I will be seeing Jason Bourne when it comes out.

Those were my top two commercials, I would love to hear what yours were!

It’s Happening! Supergirl And The Flash Are Crossing Over!

its-happening

Well after months of speculation DC has confirmed via Entertainment Weekly that Barry Allen is heading to National City to hang out with Kara Danvers.  Then later that night Grant Gustin shared a pic of the script titled “Worlds Finest”.  As it has been pointed out by just about everyone the lack of an apostrophe is important meaning that Supergirl is actually on like Earth 3 or 4 or something in relation to the Arrowverse.  Hopefully Earth 4 leaving Earth 3 to occupied by a grown up Owlman.  We can only hope all this universe hoping leads to a ‘Crisis’ to flatten them all in to one!

March will now contain two major media DC team-ups!

The BBC’s War & Peace Is Lacking On The War

war-and-peace

The BBC’s new miniseries War & Peace is Leo Tolstoy through Jane Austen’s lens.  It spends all of its time on the glamorous balls and parties, but almost no time at war.  Which is a shame since the brotherhood of soldiers is such a major theme of the book.  However, what they have created, Russia by way of Britain, is very entertaining.  If you are a fan of period drama, you will enjoy your time with War & Peace.

The acting, the sets, and the costumes are all wonderful.  The BBC knows how to create a period pieces better than just about anyone else.  It is just a shame they couldn’t have found a couple of Russians to be in it, or at the very least a few Frenchmen since all the Russian aristocracy spoke French at that time.  What I am saying is you can tell this is the BBC’s version of War & Peace, and not a straight up retelling of the book, but if you are looking for a good period drama this will probably fit the bill quite nicely.
