Shmee’s Most Anticipated Movies For 2015!

I loved the movies from 2014, but something tells me 2015 is going to be something special!  Why?  I will show you why with my Most Anticipated Movies For 2015 List!

5: Jupiter Ascending

I probably shouldn’t be excited about this movie since it was on my list for 2014, and moving a movie around is usually a sign that the studio doesn’t have any faith in it, but the Wachowski siblings haven’t totally let me down yet.  Plus I can’t stay away from a space opera!

4: Mad Max: Fury Road

I wasn’t excited about this film when it was first announced, but thanks to a wonderfully insane trailer, I am pumped for this film.  So much so that I ordered the last three movies on Blu-Ray to get ready.  You will get my review on those flicks after I watch them again.

3: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

This series took a step back with Mockingjay Part 1, but I think Part 2 will be a return to form.  It is a shame they didn’t just do one movie, but they managed not to kill my excitement for this franchise.  You will know were to find me in November.

2: The Avengers: Age Of Ultron

The first Avengers movie was one of the biggest of all time, so there is a lot riding on this movie, but Disney hasn’t let me down yet.  I am betting this movie is going to be great!  If this was any other year this would be my number one movie, but this is not any other year.  Which brings me to number one!

1: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Oh man a new Star Wars movie!!!!  I know the prequels should have should have me doubting this movie, but I can’t.  It is a freaking Star Wars movie, and then the trailer was pitch perfect.  Christmas can’t get here fast enough.

Well there you have it, now you know what movies I am looking forward too, and amazingly this list only had one comic book movie, which considering my Top for 2014 list and the number of comic book movies coming out next year that is pretty incredible.  What is your 2015 list?

The Force Is Strong With Star Wars: Rebels!

I missed the launch of Star Wars: Rebels because I don’t have Disney XD, and I don’t see myself paying for it any time soon, but I will say that Star Wars: Rebels is good enough to have me considering it.  I was upset that Disney canceled the Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon, or as it is known in geek circles the best thing to come out of the Prequel Trilogy, but by returning to the time of the original trilogy Disney has got me excited for The Force Awakens!

The plot is simple, an orphan boy Ezra Bridger falls in with a group of smugglers, but he soon finds out that they are more than what they seem, and the Jedi aren’t all gone after all.  I know the Jedi part was a minor spoiler, but since they spoil that in the trailers, I feel like I can let that slip as well.

So far, I am not a huge fan of the look of the cartoon, but I am liking the characters and the tone.  Which is far more important, and after watching the show in motion for awhile, the look has started to grow on me.  I am genuinely interested to see what else is going on in the Empire besides Luke and Leia.  I am also wondering if we will see these characters pop up in a certain new movie coming out next Christmas.

If Disney XD was still airing Tron: Uprising I would be calling Comcast right now to get the Disney XD channel.  As it stands now, I will patiently be waiting for them to re-air episodes on the plain ‘ol Disney Channel (like how I watched show for this post) or Netflix (please don’t make me wait for Netflix!).  If Disney can build on the success of these two cartoon shows, we should all be in for a treat with The Force Awakens!

Comic Con Starts Today!

The San Diego Comic Con starts today!  I hope we get lots of new geeky movie and video game news, and of course some cool new comic books.  I am sure we will hear a lot about the Marvel movies and shows, Star Wars, DC’s TV show empire, and the Justice League movies, but I am hoping that this year’s show will still have a few surprises for us.  A new Green Lantern movie perhaps?

We shall see!  Is there anything you are hoping for out of this year’s Con?

Star Wars: Episode VII Has A Cast!

Star-Wars-Episode-VII-cast

Just is case you were somewhere that didn’t have the internet yesterday, Disney and Lucas Film announced the principle cast for Star Wars: Episode VII.  Pretty much it is the cast from the original trilogy: Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2).  Then a bunch of new young kids, plus Andy Serkis, and Max von Sydow.

So the new kids are probably playing the children of Han and Leia, their friends, and the guy from Girls is probably an evil apprentice of some sort.  Max von Sydow is no doubt the bad guy because if he isn’t they have the world’s worst casting director.  This kind of leaves the amazing Andy Serkis as the wild card.  I am sure he will be an animated alien of some sort, but whether his is good or bad is anyone’s guess.  I am just happy he is in it because he makes everything better!  The only real surprise is that Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) wasn’t in the line up.  How can you have a Han without a Lando?  I am hoping that he shows up at some point to cheat Han out of the Falcon one more time.

Now that they have a cast the movie feels much more real.  It actually feels like it is moving forward.  J.J. Abrams has proven he can direct fun and exciting films, so I just hope the script is well written.  We only need to wait a year and a half for a new Star Wars movie!  I know the last three should have made me more cautious, but I can’t help it.  It makes me giddy just to think about sitting in a theater, watching the intro text scroll, and listening to an amazing John Williams score!
